Hot water bottle daisy wheel – fact versus fiction.
How to grab someone’s attention has been fine-tuned using scare stories, fake news and even promises of great wealth, anything goes as long as it gets you on their platform. Once there all the advertising, reels of pictures and even more click bait await.
But I thought this was real?
As with all click bait and fake news it’s there to lure you in, famous names and pictures of celebrities are loaded on to give the impression it’s genuine.
So, what is wrong, my hot water bottle has a date on it?
Car tyres share the embossing process and have a manufacture date, nothing wrong with that, it’s just the way manufacturing has always been.
It’s the way this date has been hijacked to scare the public into thinking something is wrong if it’s not today’s date.
Unlike food or short life products rubber and plastics do not have a use by date.
One thing about click spammers is they don’t realise how dangerous these scare stories are.
Relying on manufacture date is risky, a hot water bottle made last year but filled regularly with boiling water (never ever use boiling water) is very likely to burst. However a bottle made a few years ago but used correctly will be safe.
It’s how the bottle is used, regular checks are the only way stay safe, relying on manufacture date is false and dangerous.
British Standard instructions clearly state to check your hot water bottle regularly before use to stay safe.
Just like the tyres on a car, nobody would dream of throwing out an unworn tyre because it’s gone 2 years past it’s manufacture date.
Yet, that’s how click bait works, make up scare stories and wait for the clicks.
We’ll apologise now to all the click bait spammers, here’s the truth direct from the manufacturers of hot water bottles.
Factory Explanation Date Daisy Wheel
The correct advice is to replace your hot water bottle every 2 years from when you start using it and always check the bottle over before filling.
Dear LoveHotWaterBottles,
Please note although the year and month of manufacture is embossed on the bottle, this is only for our production traceability if there is a product defect for us to trace who and which machine the product was made and it has no relationship with the lifespan of a bottle.
Only once the bottle is being used, ageing process starts.
Please note if a hot water bottle is properly used and cared, it can last for more than 10 years as rubber is not a perishable product if it is stored and kept in recommended form.
Please refer to our attached user instruction.
With best regards,
Sänger GmbH
